| New Santa Fe Trail Projet | ||
Fall 2009 Mitigation Project On September 25th and 26th of 2009, the Pikes Peak Wildfire Prevention Partners completed another wildland fuels mitigation project. A three mile section of the Santa Fe Trail located between Monument and Palmer Lake is the location of the project. The goal of the project is to enhance the effectivness of the trial as a fuel break between the heavily used railroad line that is adjacent to and downslope from the trail and a residential area that is adjacent to and upslope from the tail. The project focused on removal of ladder fuels and dead vegetaion within the right of way of the trail. | ||
